The Story of Asthmago’s Development

For the recent more than twenty years, our company has been dedicated to the improvement and innovation of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) by combining TCM with the advantages of modern Western medical sciences, while we were running our clinics in the UK and North America.

A particular focus is on finding ways to treat those diseases deemed incurable by conventional medicine. How to sort out allergy diseases is one of our interested research areas; this is because as soon as we started our first TCM clinic in London in 1996, nearly half of our daily patients were allergy disease sufferers including asthma, eczema, hay fever and food allergy. Among them 70% were children, the youngest one was just a two weeks old infant. At that time, there were very few allergy disease cases in China where our doctor initially trained. Why are there so many allergy disease cases in developed countries? This was the first question we needed to answer before we treated them properly. In English, there is the saying that ‘you are what you eat’; we carefully compared and analysed the food market, environment, people’s lifestyle and eating habits etc. between the two countries and we concluded that high allergy incidence in developed countries might be a nutrition problem.

Asthma and eczema were normally translated into Chinese as 湿疹 (shi zhen), 哮喘(xiao chuan) which are Chinese traditional diseases sharing some similar symptoms, but we found that they were actually much different - using commonly used Chinese medicine for asthma would not produce satisfactory effects. This is why many people tried traditional Chinese medicine for asthma and did not get good results. Asthma is a modern life induced health problem and cannot be simply or directly treated by traditional Chinese medicine for asthma (TCM); TCM needs to be updated and improved to treat these modern diseases - and this is what we have been doing for almost three decades.

Further research following our theory and holistic research methodology, resulted in our great success in treating eczema first - no matter how severe the eczema case, patients had obvious improvement within one week. In 1997, we treated a boy who had very severe eczema. Two years later, his father came back and told us that after two months of herbal tea, his son’s eczema was much better and in addition, his son had no asthma attacks at all for two years. He was very happy and very surprised about the miracles of our herbal tea and also told us that he thought we could only treat eczema, but actually his son’s asthma caused his family more trouble because for each asthma attack they had to call the emergency ambulance to go to hospital for help. We reviewed the young boy’s asthma treatment prescription and obtained inspiration from this particular case of our asthma treatment for children. After further research and clinical tests, we developed our first generation of Asthmago. Although it produced excellent results for asthma treatment, a problem that we identified was that although patient’s asthma got better very soon, in some cases, eczema would appear.
